Green Pasture introducing new products in November

This exciting news was just announced by Green Pastures.  I can't wait to try it!
Warm wishes,
Jean

http://www.greenpasture.org/fermented-cod-liver-oil-butter-oil-vitamin-d-vitamin-a/introducing-new-products-at-the-wapf-show-oct-9th-11th/
I can not contain my excitement any longer... I need to share with our community what will be introduced at the WAPF conference in a couple wks.
I anticipate this product will be the pinnacle product GPP offers within a year or two.
It is a infused Organic Coconut Oil with a mixture of FCLO, HVBO, and /or Skate Liver Oil.
As most in this community know, coconut oil is the ideal carrier oil as it by-passes the liver/digestion process and goes straight into the body. It is a perfect carrier for nutrient rich foods for optimum utilization of what a person ingests.
The new product will allow a person to take 1/2 tablespoon total and receive approx 1/2 tsp of the infused oils. The general research indicates that the infused oils will be more deeply appreciated/utilized by a persons body through using coconut oil as the carrier oil. Or in a economical view, the nutrient rich infused oils will be more cost effective and efficient.
As most in this group can appreciate the concept; it is one thing to ingest nutrients but another to for a persons body to utilize the nutrients.
Other benefits include: better taste, texture, odor, smoother feel on the throat.
We already make a skin product based on the same concept but this product could be used if one would prefer. Using coconut oil as a carrier oil the nutrient dense infused oils are easily absorbed direct into the body.
In addition we will be introducing a suppository with the same formulation sometime in 2013.
The product will come in a few flavors. We invite all to come and assist with this work as we will have samples at the conference for trial and comment.

Green Pasture ALERT: butter oil items are starting to re-stock this week

Hello, friends!

For those of you who were waiting for Green Pasture's butter oil items to re-stock, they are coming in now!  According to their blog (http://www.greenpasture.org/public/Blog/ -- their preferred way of communicating), items are starting to re-stock today, and there are a few that have already appeared on their price list.

I will keep our order timeline as previously announced, so that we can (hopefully) get in on what is coming back in stock this week, and then try to get other items people might want in next month's order.  They are restricting quantities, so get what you need for the next few weeks and we'll go back for more next month.

Green Pasture order info again:
Family-owned business that provides high-quality sacred-food oils just as they were made prior to the industrialized food and farming revolution.
We receive 12+ pricing.
Shop at http://www.greenpasture.org/public/Order/ and please have orders (new or updated) to me by Fri., Oct. 19.

Thanks to the the butter-oil fairies and to YOU for ordering with me!
Jean

P.S.  As always, if you would like to stop receiving these notifications from me regarding healthy-food ordering, I want to honor that.  Please respond to this e-mail with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.

group orders for nutrient-dense foods currently underway

Hello, friends of healthy foods!

I would like to let you know about a handful of group orders I am currently coordinating, with order deadlines coming up this week.  If you're interested in any of them, please let me know as soon as possible.  And feel free to contact me directly with any questions.

Before I go any further I want to emphasize that I'm only willing to order items that are NOT available locally.  I am committed to supporting our local farmers, who work hard to provide our community with pastured meats, eggs, and milk; produce; honey; and more.  In fact, my hope is that somewhere down the line I could coordinate group buying for local farmers, in order to facilitate consumers' connecting directly with their food, as well as farmers receiving the largest portion of the money that consumers pay for their food.

Here are the orders currently underway.

US Wellness Meats:
They have many products, such as pastured organ-meat products (liverwurst, braunschweiger, etc.), sugar-free bacon, pemmican and jerky, and wild-caught shrimp, that are not available locally.
We receive 20% discount off of retail prices, excluding any sale items or volume discounts.
Shop at http://www.grasslandbeef.com/ and please have orders to me by Wed., Oct. 17 (tomorrow!).

Bareville Creamery:
Sale on summer butter ($8/tub; not as dark as fall butter); fall butter ($9/tub); we can order now for spring butter (no price yet, but last year hay-fed was $8 and grass-fed was $9), so be thinking about what you'd like for the spring pre-order.
Please let me know how many of summer and fall butter you would like by Fri., Oct. 19.

Miller's Organic Farm:
They carry many products not available locally: some specialty items, such as crispy nuts (soaked & roasted) and potato chips cooked in lard, as well as soy-free eggs, a variety of cheeses, heavy cream, and more.
Shop at http://www.myhealthyfoodclub.com/assets/images/Docs/farm-food-price-list.pdf and please have orders to me by Tues., Oct. 23.

These orders should arrive and be ready to pick up between Thurs., Oct. 25 and Sat., Oct. 27; people ordering will be notified as dates become clearer.

A few other orders will be developing in the next few weeks: Radiant Life (http://www.radiantlifecatalog.com/; free shipping & tiered volume pricing), Happy Herbalist (http://www.happyherbalist.com/; group pricing), and Regional Access (http://regionalaccess.net/).  I'm also looking into an olive oil order.

Over the next several weeks I will be making the transition from casual group ordering every now and then to an official buying club based on Weston A. Price principles.  The goals of this buying club include facilitating consumers' access to nutrient-dense (and whenever possible, local) foods; facilitating farmers' access to consumers; and saving money for all involved.  In the future I hope to offer one-stop shopping for fresh produce, clean meats, dairy products and eggs, fermented vegetables and drinks, traditionally made breads, and more.  I will be limiting membership to fewer than 25 families at first, so if you're interested, make sure you let me know.

I don't want to abuse my membership on this list with self-promotion, so I will not be posting again about the club, but I wanted to let you know about the orders currently underway, as well as a heads-up regarding the opportunity of a buying club, which would potentially be of interest to many on this list.

Thank you!
Jean Lockwood

US Wellness update: sugar-free pork bacon

I called US Wellness and they confirmed that the sugar-free pork bacon will not be available until Thurs., Oct. 18.  So I won't have to watch the site every day for a week; I'll just pounce that morning.

I'm also submitting a wholesale application, so this should work out well for us!

Thanks for your patience!
Jean

US Wellness order probably delayed; pre-payment

Hello, friends!

For those of you who have given me orders for US Wellness, and for those who were hoping to but missed the deadline, it looks like you have more time.

Their latest newsletter predicted the sugar-free bacon would be in stock tomorrow or Monday, but now their web site is saying Thurs., Oct. 18.  So here's what I'd like to do:
- I will keep watching the web site and pounce with the orders I have when the bacon is back in stock.
- If you get a new order (or an order update) to me before "pounce time," I can include it in the order.

I'll be in touch with a delivery estimate; I'm hoping it will be the Thursday after I order.

Starting with this order I would like to institute pre-payment.  Stay tuned for details, but I would like to receive payment before the order arrives.

Thank you for bearing with my growing pains!

Warm wishes,
Jean

more info on upcoming orders

For those of you new to the group, here's a little information about the farmers / companies I'm ordering from this time around.  I tried to answer common questions people have.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Looking forward to these orders!
Warm wishes,
Jean

Miller's Organic Farm, Bird in Hand, PA
Miller's web site where you can learn more about them: http://millersorganicfarm.com/
Information about their products from the web site for a co-op in Miami, FL that orders from them: http://www.myhealthyfoodclub.com/
Shipping costs are better with large orders; last time the order was only $300 and shipping was still reasonable: from $2.48 on a $36 order to $17.60 on a $134 order.  I calculate individual shipping costs based on weight of each person's order.
My favorites: crispy pecans, fermented salsa, cow heavy cream, mild cow cheddar, sourdough rye bread
Other people also enjoy: organ meats, other cheese varieties (from cow, goat, sheep), fermented pickle relish, Celtic sea salt (fine and coarse), chicken feet and other parts for broth, potato chips

Bareville Creamery (Daniel Zook), Leola, PA
Cultured butter (jersey-cross cows), cultured by leaving cream sit out, salted with Real Salt. Listed in the WAPF Shopping Guide and also advertises in the back of Wise Traditions (meaning it is recognized by WAPF as following its principles).
Theirs is a few dollars less expensive than butter from Miller's Organic Farm, which is $14/lb., and the dark color is amazing!
They sell the butter in 1-pint tubs (not quite a pound).  They usually ship prioirty flat-rate: 12 tubs fit into a large flat-rate box for $15; for an order 20lbs. or more they to go with FedEx.  This order is already over 20 pounds, so shipping should be about like last time: $.60 per tub.
They require a down-payment for grass-fed spring butter (last year was $2/tub); I'll be in touch in November about the spring order.

Green Pasture, O'Neill, NE (http://www.greenpasture.org/)
Their butter oil products are out of stock right now, but I am happy to let people sample the two varieties of CLO we use at our house: unflavored and cinnamon tingle FCLO/BO gel.
As far as I have ever known, GP is the only game in town, but a fellow GP user just let me know (after I passed along GP's skate oil subsititution suggestion): "There is a ghee advertised in Wise Traditions which is high in K2 as well.  I read about it in a book called the Calcium Paradox. The author felt it was just as good as the GP product, and much cheaper. I have considered buying straight CLO and using it to make my own blend."  Something I will be looking into!
The WAPF site is currently working on resolving a problem with being flagged ("appears to be functioning as intermediary for distributing malware to visitors of this site"), but once that's taken care of you can get more info there on GP and CLO (try http://www.westonaprice.org/cod-liver-oil/).

US Wellness, Monticello, MO (http://www.grasslandbeef.com/)
My preference is to buy locally and not from Missouri, but they carry items I haven't yet found elsewhere: no-sugar bacon, wild-caught shrimp, liver products like liverwurst and braunschweiger, and primitive snacks I've been wanting to try for years: pemmican and beef jerky.  And all following Weston A. Price principles.

Happy Herbalist, Cary, NC (http://www.happyherbalist.com/)
THE place for kombucha supplies.  I need to make the transition from my batch-at-a-time method to continuous brewing, so I'll be getting a 5-gallon glass container with spigot.  The owner says he does offer group buying discounts, but has yet to get back to me with details.  Stay tuned!

Radiant Life, Santa Rosa, CA (http://www.radiantlifecatalog.com/)
The go-to place for WAPF products, foods, books, etc.  I would like a Harsch crock for making LOTS of sauerkraut and other fermented veggies and am considering a family grain mill.  No word yet about group discounts.  Stay tuned!

orders for US Wellness, Green Pasture, Bareville Creamery coming up soon!

Greetings, healthy-food lovers!

A lot is going on here; read on for details!

Many orders are in the works; please see details here and see below for ordering instructions.

US Wellness: SHORT-NOTICE ALERT!  Sugar-free pork bacon should be available by this Fri. or Mon. (and it's been selling out within a day), so I'd like to have an order (bacon and whatever else) ready in plenty of time to jump on it.
Shop at http://www.grasslandbeef.com/ and please have orders to me by Thurs., Oct. 11 by noon.

Green Pasture (high-quality sacred-food oils as they were made prior to industrialized food): they still have a shortage of high-vitamin butter oil, but they suggest using skate liver oil as a substitute.  I have a coupon that expires Oct. 31 that I'm happy to share.
Shop at http://www.greenpasture.org/ and use 12+ pricing.  Please have orders to me by Fri., Oct. 19.

Bareville Creamery: sale on summer butter ($8/tub; not as dark as fall butter), fall butter ($9/tub); we can order now for spring butter (no price yet, but last year hay-fed was $8 and grass-fed was $9), so be thinking about what you'd like for the spring pre-order.
Please let me know how many of summer and fall butter you would like by Fri., Oct. 19.

Radiant Life: orders already totaling enough for lowest shipping (10% of total order); waiting to hear about group discounts & will keep you posted.
Shop at http://www.radiantlifecatalog.com/ and stay tuned!

Ordering instructions:
When you send your order to me (as text within the body of an e-mail), please include item number, item price, quantity, and item total, as well as any necessary details, such as salted/unsalted. This will save me a ton of time that I could be spending with my family! :O)

Other news:
I'm working toward formalizing a buying club, in order to make buying more cost-effective for us and pick-up more convenient for you.  I'm hoping to order on a regular basis (monthly at first), have orders from multiple vendors arrive on a Thursday or Friday, and keep items in a fridge / freezer so that if it's more convenient to come within a couple days of delivery than right on the day the order arrives, we can do it!  As the club grows, pricing will get better and there will be more opportunity for members to help keep costs down.  I will also have a website (not just a Yahoo group) for easy reference to price lists, etc., and better-looking, easier-to-navigate e-mails.

I am also planning to expand the menu of vendors to include local farmers and businesses that embrace Weston A. Price principles, so if you know anyone who would be interested in direct, more affordable access to consumers, please send them my way!

As the buying club becomes finalized, I will be asking members to sign a member agreement and will also be requiring pre-payment for orders.  I will be limiting membership to fewer than 25 families at first, so if you're interested, make sure you let me know.  More on this will be forthcoming, and I will be soliciting your input on how this would work best for you!

(Aren't you looking forward to nicer e-mails?!  I am.)

Thanks for your interest; looking forward to these upcoming orders!

Warm wishes,
Jean

P.S.  As always, if you would like to stop receiving these notifications from me regarding healthy-food ordering, I want to honor that.  Please respond to this e-mail with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.
